About Our Logs

Naturally Seasoned Logs

About our Naturally Seasoned Logs

Our naturally seasoned logs are approximately 75% Ash with the remainder a mixture of hardwoods, such as Birch, Hornbeam, Beech or Cherry. We do not kiln dry our logs.

Kiln drying is an accelerant when compared with naturally seasoned wood because it artificially removes the natural moisture contained in wood, quicker. However, this process is detrimental to the environment, because kiln drying involves burning wood/logs which in turn releases carbon into the earth’s atmosphere. It is for this reason that Chart Logs do not provide kiln dried logs.

Our logs are dried naturally, months or years in advance firstly in our forestry yard and then in our forestry barn. This means by the time our logs are delivered to your door, they have been dried without any further carbon having been released into the atmosphere.

We also supply kindling which consists of soft wood. The advantages of softwood is that its flame-producing properties means your fire is lit with minimal effort.

The Life of a Chart Log

The Journey of a Chart Log
Every Chart Log begins its life deep in the heart of our carefully managed woodlands.

🌿 Sustainably Grown – Trees flourish in local woodland, nurtured through responsible coppicing and thinning practices that support biodiversity.

🪓 Thoughtfully Harvested – Select trees are felled and processed into logs using a blend of traditional methods and modern machinery.

🌞 Naturally Seasoned – Logs are air-dried over many months—sometimes years—to achieve the perfect moisture content for clean, efficient burning.

🚛 Delivered with Care – Once fully seasoned, your Chart Logs are packed and delivered straight to your door, ready to bring warmth and comfort to your home.
